Don't even get me started on this one. What the hell is going on? Have we lost all sense of what is reasonable? Has anybody stopped to assess the impact this could have on life on earth? on the tides perhaps? on the galaxy even? We went through decades thinkign the ocean would be a good dumping ground for waste. Well, we now know it wasn't. Is our ignorance never-ending? Are we just going to make the same-same-but-different mistakes all over again, just on a new scale?
And the thousands of newspaper articles announcing this rave about what a 'spectacular sight' it'll be. Spectacular, perhaps. Spectcacularly stupid, most definitely.
Not to mention with the moon's atmosphere being practicall...

It is a waste of money... but I hardly think a couple of crashed satellites will be noticeable from Earth. And their greater impact on the Moon's surface will be negligible at best.
