rmowery says:
So if you have a small container with lots of water and lots of ice and the ice melts....what happens to all the extra water and where does it go?

WaterWorld anyone?

Do the reindeer have water wings? Does Santa need emergency aid? Can the elves even swim? Is Christmas cancelled?

We know that many animals will drown. Doesn't seem funny.

Bewildering, rmowery. wouldn't have expected something this profoundly obtuse coming from you.

If it really did affect things like Santa or Christmas you would see far more out cry about this devastating change than we will see now for the arctic environment. The "I, Me, My" generations of the past and their lack of the type of forward thinking that is for the good of mankind force us to relive our mistakes over and over.

Not obtuse Willhelm - just making a point sacrastically about society I suppose.

LoPhatt better stated things with the comment about the outcry if it was Santa.

It seems the world simply doesn't seem to care about this event, but more about Brittany Spears child custody or that we are running short on oil and want offshore drilling to get us more oil.

More oil is not the answer and offshore drilling will just cause more damage to our environment. It just seems society is brain dead and really hasn't grasped the impact of this event. It hardly has gotten any coverage in the media.

Hello rmowery! Great article clip. I agree with your statement (above) with one exception. I don't think it is 'society' in general that acts brain dead but rather the news media. They are SOOO focused on oil, elections, news in the middle east, and elaborating on similar that they are not bringing to society another news flash that society could be paying attention to. If we rely on the news media to bring us stories about the world in general, then we need more stories like this to help bring about the change.

We ALL know that news me...

War and oil makes money. Planet earth will evolve with or without us and that is what I believe is the ultimate opinion of our politicians and factors into your comment (ie: brain dead). We cannot rely on our politicians but maybe there are a few radical reporters out there that can help make a big push by bringing this focus to the media more and more. For example, our nightly news (ie: prime time) could have a 10 min spot each night, teaching people how to conserve, help the environment; and with images of what is happening around the world in terms of the climate change. If we can sit and watch 10 mins of war and terror on the nightly news, it can't kill us to watch 10 mins of 'living...

I don't get your complaint. It seems to me that your entire comment and opinion is based on what the media have propagated. Just because this event hasn't happened in your lifetime, doesn't mean that it doesn't happen with great regularity. Have you heard that in the media?
