What spurred me to do this is that | just heard a report on the radio about a young woman called squeek (nickname we all have one)is in an underground tunnel , made as a protest to stop the undergoing of work on the m3 motorway to dublin- the capital city of Ireland which has seen massive growth with immigrant workers and the economic boom (celtic tiger)
There are many people making massive journeys to and from work in dublin
which is probably the main reason for the development
there is a green party minister of the environment who promised to stop the before election who hasn't
The european parliment seem to have deemed it illegal but to no avail
The protestors obviously seem passionate about this major part of the countries heritage
but I don't believe protesting is the only way
I think persuasion of the public
informing the public of the importance of the hill of tara
possibly through literature and/or t.v
making a programme focused on the issue would definitely attract

Thanks for this Tidbit. I signed the petition. It is outrageous to even consider this ridiculous destruction of our most sacred landmark.

This is awful! The history of this site must be preserved. The Lia Fail or "Stone of Destiny", was brought to Tara by the Tuatha Dé Danann, as one of their sacred objects before recorded time. There is power on those grounds. Cremated remains were found in the Mound of the Hostages, likely to be Druids, as that is one of the things we do know about them (burial rites). Other skeletal remains could be either the "Kings" who would've deemed themselves worthy of such a "regal" resting place, or perhaps the hostages from the 9 tribes.
I am crushed, I so wanted to spend my last days in Eire, but if they are destroying its rich culture in the same ways the US does, what's the point?

kkcapricorn, you put this better than I did. We Irish never took it lying down, why are we lying down on this? This is worse than any British wrong ever done to us, why are we allowing it? Our ancestors must be spinning in their graves right now..

carrerinyes -- It makes me sick when they destroy historical landmarks in the US, but they are nothing compared to the time spanned by Tara.
I would think that with the pollution problems, they would spend the money on mass transportation, rather than making room for more cars.
Too much greed in this world. Pity them for the huge amount of bad karma they are collecting.
