I like the sarcasm but feel compelled to point out that it's Jesus who said 'love thine enemies,' and we seem:

#1 > to think the Old Testiment is the same as the New, when it was actually a radical transformation.

#2 > In practice Christians seem as full of hate, violence and war as anyone else, if not more so.

#3 > The idea of turning the other cheek if someone slaps you is against most human nature, common sense, and survival instincts and needs.

#4 > Do not be lulled but even the pretense and pablum you think such words offer.

Yes, I love sarcasm too citizen, and I agree with #1, #2? eh, there are encouraging signs #3?
Number 3 is about being empowered citizen. Empowerment begets courage and often leads to passionate protest against the way things are and advocacy of another vision of how things can be. For Jesus, and those who really want to follow him, it says that this world is simply not to be used for our selfish and greedy purposes but actually to be changed.

I have always found right wing Christians full of hate, it is hard to talk about Jesus and the right wingers in the same sentence, seems like blasphemy. Jesus stood for social justice, something we have not had in the last eight years, was spawned under Reagan. As any good historian will tell you Osama Bin Laden stopped the Cold War by defeating the Soviet Union in Afghanistan with USA supplied weapons. We all know who took the credit, just tell the truth. Seems like Viagra Rush and Luffa O' Reilly fall right into this category.
