It's nice to see the current and future PM together... Even though there are many similarities, there are a number of differences. hitler held the 'final solution' hidden for as long as he could, the short one shouts worldwide about his intent. hitler had a military might, where the Jews had none. Israel has the might to wipe Iran off the map. Assuming that the little man gets his nukes somehow - US won't be silent as it was in 1938. hitler was far away and difficult to get to, 'hey-don't-take-my-job' isn't. hitler was highly regarded by most in Germany, this guy doesn't seem to have the same level of support, especially among the youth. hitler had the mightiest army in the world, this ... ... and what's the deal with tie colors?... are those a coincidence?... Interesting. I didn't even notice the ties. Saying something about American politics?? You think? Another one of those "Paul is dead" moments... RS. Iran has some things Hitler didn't have and that was an uncanny ability to control foreign press, a religious fervor behind his motives, millions of Islamic extremists willing to do his bidding, and an even more narcissistic adversary than the US was in the 30s, and stronger worldwide relations with Russia, China, Venezuela, and the UN. The seriousness of this situation relies on how fast the US will respond in ending this threat. Iran is certain of a slow response. You're right there are some similarities. However, on big difference. Hitler and the Nazis wanted to live. Ahmadinijad and the Jihadis want to die and think they will bring about the apocalypse in the process. I think it is a... Netanyahu: really!!! Who really gives a damn what this corrupt, dishonored bullshitter has to say. Methinks that perhaps people just might look for a more credible spokesperson when trying to make a point. The point may be food for thought, but is somewhat diminished by the source. It seems that everyone in politics is a "corrupt, dishonored...." now-a-days in someone's opinion. Netanyahu is a born leader. He has warned his Country for over 25 yrs. that they have placed a viper in their own nest. At least he knew there could be no peace with the PA under Arafat; not with Hamas or Hezbollah. How many others believed that it *was* possible, that 'land for peace' could work? And now look where they are. Much like the US, they prefer fighting among themselves instead of against their common enemies. Netanyahu is a born leader. He has warned his Country for over 25 yrs. that they have placed a viper in their own nestIn their "OWN" nest? what distorted history do you choose to believe? I'm not choosing sides in this dispute as there is more than enough blame on both sides, but that statement is over the top. And Netanyahu, a born leader. More like a born rabble-rouser. And yet you choose to hold him up as an example of "GOOD". Tis enough to gag a maggot ...and they are most certainly gagging at the prospect of him in power. Here's to gagging maggots. "Distorted history"? Again, that depends on what your world-view is. Some people view it as accurate. The land was given to Israel by the UN after WW II, but I'm sure you already know that. Jewish people were actually already living in the land at that time, as were others. I won't continue my "distorted" view of history so I'll stop with this. And one person's "rabble-rouser" is another person's patriot, so the discussion is pointless. I support the Israeli peoples' right to exist in the Land alloted to them and what was won by the defeat of merciless attacks on them. Though they keep giving it back in hopes of winning some form of peace with it's 'neighbors'. It will never happen.... I too support the Israeli peoples' right to exist. And were it not for an ironic twist of fate I would have been flying as a fighter pilot for that fledgling nation long ago when most of the Arab nations were trying to crush them. As for who is a patriot and who is a rabble-rouser I guess that the best we can do on that score is to agree to disagree. I also support a homeland for the Palestinian people, for gawd only knows they have been used and abused for sooooooo long by so many I agree 100% with the last portion of your last comment. They have been used and abused by tyrants of their own ethnic background and religion for personal gain and exploitation. Those who have sought to bring some sort of peace and stability to them have been denounced and/or voted out of office or murdered. No Arab leader has been able to rise up and truly *lead* them to peace and any sense of prosperity....and it's sooooo available! Socratoad, you're completely wrong on the Netanyahu estimation. If you're referring to the smear campaign by the Clinton barker, aka James Carville, who had no business going over there and meddling in Israeli politics - then I can see where you're getting your info. Personally I think Netanyahu is the only guy who can put Israel back to where it needs to be. His brother was a great hero and he's a very educated and intelligent man who is a great speaker with full understanding of what's at stake. The only reason I take side with Israel in that conflict is because the palestinians aren't fighting to have a country and peace. They're fighting for all the wrong reason, trying to achieve s... @willhelm, I'm not sure where you thought my take on Iran vs Germany (WW2) was, but for the record I totally agree with every sentiment you made. The Iran situation is similar in some respects, different in others, but certainly more dangerous than hitler in the '30s. You're absolutely right. Sorry RS,I guess I interpreted your closing comments in your initial remark incorrectly. |
