All the propaganda (including umpteen newsmen/women volunteering to be tazed) leads to this sort of ignorant kneejerkocity, I guess.

I'm glad they tasered him! First of all they didn't know that he was the father to the baby and he and his wife allegedly didn't tell the hospital that they wanted to be released. What if this was some stranger walking out with a baby? If I was a mom I'd rather my baby be dropped than be abducted. Also, it's interesting that the baby is now in protective custody as a result of the parents domestic abuse.

The elevators would not open because of the baby's tracking bracelet; they couldn't get out. Also, the baby's physical safety is paramount; Tasering the man holding her was stupid. All they had to do was keep him there. And the mother was still in her hospital gown; I doubt she was ready to leave yet.

It doesn't say if the baby was in protective custody before or after the incident. If it was before, they had every reason to restrain them. But Tasering was still ill-advised.
