It seems he's going for people with specific EXPERIENCE in the work he wants them to do.

Announced yesterday he's picking the governor of my state to be head of Homeland Security. (Governors are a nice source of candidates...I expect a few more of them, like Bill Richardson)

But -- Anybody who doesn't live in my border state (or next door New Mexico) wouldn't get it and I'm sure there will be howls of complaints about picking her.

But she has been in the thick of it, in the thick of the greatest hole in our national security: 4,000 people a day walking over from Mexico into Arizona.

4,000 -- everyday.

All this goes on while East coast idiots think they are handling national security because they search peoples shoes at airports and won't let mothers take baby bottles onto planes.

Our woman governor also sent state troops down to the border to fight Mexican paramilitary drug gangs. No other governor has order state troops to the border.

So -- Obama was pretty hip to notice this, to discover this and to realize: Oh...yea....the Mexican border (and the whole issue of immigration) needs focus, and needs someone who's been in the fight...not just a pretty face or a popular name.

I was talking with a Clinton supporter yesterday and she was delighted about the appointment (no surprise). So that's another good reason for that pick, plus the experience factor.

The 100 dayhoneymoon? - It doesn't exist. Russia threatened Obama with nukes on the Polish border to oppose USA missile plans there.

At home Republicans have been chewing on every cabinet pick like hungry wolves.

It is really a myth, this honeymoon idea and Obama seems hip to it....setting things up and putting things in motion now, right away, even before he officially starts his first day on the job.

Being just a "president-elect," can also be seen as a myth.
