AtlLiberal says: I can understand some people feeling squimish about witnessing childbirth. IMO, being the father of 3 sons, I do not hold that position myself. In fact, this whole story screams politics. Now I don't know the legal requirements of pornography in Zambia. In the US a key element is the elicitation of sexual arousal. If that is an element of porno in Zambia than to assume that someone would be aroused by pictures of a fatal childbirth seem absurd. Additionally, the story indicates something of the cultural mindset in Zambia. Whether it is misogynistic or simply puritanical is hard for an outsider to evaluate. It is shameful that politicians can't see the suffering and death that their denial, ambition and posturings inflict on the people under their power. |
