This is Potato Falls near Lake Superior in Wisconsin. My wife's grandparents talked us into coming up to their hunting shack last Saturday and little did I know they had some really awesome places planned to take us to, this one of them.

That's really beautiful. I'll have to check that out on a map. I've really enjoyed Copper Falls State Park in Northern WI, especially in the fall when all the leaves have changed color.

I've heard Copper Falls is incredible but never been there. We were also told that there is another waterfall upstream from this one that is bigger so we plan on going back someday and spending some time hiking up to it.

Your welcome. Since I have small kids myself I prefer to do our traveling locally. There is so much beauty in our region as well. Devils Lake is one of my favorite places too in WI, down by Baraboo. Also as a parent and educator if you are ever interested I'm a huge fan of the book "Last Child in the Woods" about the importance of nature for our children and nature deficit disorder. One of the best things we can do for our kids is show them how to appreciate nature. (I'll get off my soapbox now)

I will def check that book out. These days I don't think you can ever teach your children to much about appreciating nature.

No I think that there are a few of us. Okay, well three, off the top of my head you and me and one other person. My one year old is a dirt digger. She gravitates to the dirt. Rocks. Anything like that. My older daughter and I are not dirt people and hate to get dirty. I have to appreciate watching her explore (EAT) nature.

LOL, all 5 of my kids are big time dirt lovers but my daughter is by far the nature freak! On our hike to potato falls she filled my pockets with "cool" rocks she found and the last one she found weighed about 15lbs and I refused to carry it so she carried it herself the whole way! I couldn't believe it, she's only 7 and maybe weighs 60lbs herself.
