Texas has always been an important harbinger when it comes to which textbooks are chosen for our public schools across the country. Publishers aren't willing to invest in printing costs (Texas buys a lot of books) without the rest of the nation going along. Now there's the possibility of a Christian Right-winger taking the reigns of the state education board in an already conservative state. Does this mean that Johnny will finally get to learn about Noah loading the dinosaurs on the ark in biology class? Stay tuned...

We don't have any stinkin' water at the moment. But Governor "Blow-Dry" Perry is not our best and brightest.

LOL! Well, I'm sure there are plenty of good folk in Texas (after all, there's you) but this over exuberance with ultra-conservatism seems almost anachronistic. I've no doubt that if I lived there I'd be in a lot of trouble.

Don't let the media fool you. Texas was the first state to have a military installation with Wiccan services, we have a thriving bi-annual festival in central Texas with 500-1000 attendance, and I've been openly Wiccan here in San Antonio for over 20 years without incident.

You would not be in the trouble you think, IMHO, unless you were just beligerant about it.

You absolutely right. Yet, one man's outspokenness is another's belligerence. I suspect I'd exercise a certain amount of restraint until I got a feel for the land. And in reality, the views that I champion here on Clipmarks rarely come up in day to day living. I'm not the kind to go up to people and start theological discussions. Let's say I can rant here on Clipmarks while it wouldn't be socially appropriate to do so in other places. If I'm in a social situation I'll give an honest account of my views if asked but it rarely comes up. Heck, my sister is a born again Christian and I've managed to visit her and meet her religious friends without any bloodshed.
