Why would we need to edit a picture online ? It seems easier and better to do it locally, then upload the picture... Or am I missing something ? I have used this a few times. It is great for simple crop and resize. Plus, the bookmarklet makes importing photos for editing quite easy. Still not convinced. My PC does that very well. I don't see the benefit in having that shared to the world. Maybe for people who don't have graphics software or photo imaging software? My mother doesn't. She emails to me photos that people send to her and asks me to resize them so she can print them. I re-size and send them back to her. lol Well Windows comes with a free picture resizing software doesnt it ? It's called paint. Maybe your mother is on Linux ? It's OK if you're using your own computer. But suppose that you're on a vacation, you go to an Internet café to post something to your blog and find out that no graphics editor program is available on the computer you use. (With MSPaint, you can't edit a JPG picture - just BMP's) In such positions, that utility may come handy. to me, the more online applications available, the better i hope next PC generations come with a very light OS, enough to plug into the Internet and to enjoy countless online applications and storage i find absurd that Gates' OS aka windows needs more and more of your RAM and hard drive, instead of less and less. I will not by Vista. I hope Gates gets crushed below the advent of a full Internet-PC platform requiring almost zero local resources, and FREE I don( know... What about privacy issues ? the big brother already knows all about me Gates is so weatlhy because his OS allows secret services to know all about its users, and i mean ALL so what's the difference, we are already screwed up 'thin client'... basically all you need is a web browser - no need for software locally - or lots of computer power there are loads of web based application springing up - word processors, spreadsheets, presentation imagine one day having all the software (and massive computer power) in a tiny box - all the box needs to contain is a connection to the internet (could be via mobile phone), some input device (keyboard, stylus, voice(!)) and a screen ... and since there is no need for a powerful processor, batterys will last longer You are probably right. People look at it this way what we are seeing at Pixoh, Writley, Dabble DB or Google Map etc, are what I would call first generation of Web Applications where we would do our work anywhere anytime online no need to rely on MS products. I cant start imagining Pixoh CS2. There are rumors that Google is trying to build a Web Based Operating System I wouldn’t be surprised if Pixoh would be bought over next. I agree - I try not to use the desktop apps anymore. The only time it sucks is when I can't get a net connection. Lodon - your comment on MS Windows and secrets. Seems no one wonders why US gov. is so behind MS. Linux is a smarter way to go for keeping security against the gov't. |
