merrie says: How does a company like Saleen, which already sells a 550 horsepower, supercharged Mustang, top its own best offering? By taking it to the "Extreme" for its new, limited-edition S302E super 'Stang -- the most powerful Ford-derived vehicle the company has ever produced. Underneath the S302E's hood lies a built-to-the-gills by Saleen, 302 cubic inch V-8 unit (hence the S302E moniker), with the company's patented twin-screw supercharger bolted on for good measure. The engine enhancements reportedly put the car in the vaunted 600-horsepower club, with a Viper-besting 620 horsepower and 600 lb-ft of torque, according to Saleen. The company claims the S302E will launch from 0-60 in under four seconds and scream through the quarter mile in under 12. In order to make all that tire-shredding power, the engine was built up with forged internals including the crank and connecting rods, an aluminum cylinder head, high flow fuel injectors. S302E will launch from 0-60 in under four seconds. |
