Wherever that is, there will probably be a few American tanks and some bombers and things, but at least you won't be keeping the rest of us awake with your shrill cries over phantoms of lost liberty. There may be other countries with higher standards of living, with better governments more responsive to the wishes of their electorate. Sure, there may be countries where freedom and human rights are more than just catchphrases to be tossed out the window the minute it's inconvenient, such as I admit does happen in the United States now and then (especially now).

Indeed, with poverty, racism, inequality, a disintegrating infrastructure, corporate control of the government, and the spiralling degradation of the environment, some crybabies could claim that America is no longer the greatest nation in the world.

If you look on the bright side of things, if you see the ass as half-full instead of half-empty, you realize we've never had it so good.

Satire is good.

Stopping this real descent into fascism is even better.

These warmongering Republicans and their cohorts have to be stopped: Here & Now, or things will truly and significantly get worse.

Voting for Obama -- and his election -- would be a great triumph in American history.

Seeing McCain elected might very well prove to be a final defeat.

You see, real fascism is people coming and beating you with steel cables for even supporting the wrong candidate (Zimbabwe) or throwing you into prison camps for having AIDS (Cuba) or shooting you for watching TV (Somalia) or - I think you get the idea.

Just because your are experiencing opposition to your attempts to have America lose its wars, tax itself to poverty, and elect some egotistic leftist who apparently believes he is the Messiah (as recently proclaimed by none other than Calypso Louie Farrakkan) you aren't living in a fascist state.

If you were, this very site is an example of something that wouldn't be allowed.

When people get beaten in the streets (as they did in St, Paul) then it is too late.

*LOL* Don't you feel silly putting in a loony comment like that? Huh? No? America seems to be doing just fine on it's own!
tax itself to poverty
Yeah, I guess you'd rather spend yourself into poverty instead. (see the US defense budget for details)

Go look up what fascism is and how to get there. You're well on your way, buddy.

There are other things I see as fascism: spying on citizens - which is being done.

Approval of torture - which has been done.

Leading a nation into false wars using deliberately fabricated lies...like what was done to motivate the nation into the Iraq War, claiming or implying links between Iraq and 9/11, Iraq and WMD's, Iraq and the anthrax attacks that happened one week after 9/11.

It's unfortunate, really, because if the Bush Administration looked straight, talked straight, and went straight after the right criminals (bin Laden), and was interested in uniting the nation rather that always seeking to divide it -- we would have had the most unified and patriotic people since the attack o...

I love it personally, I have had some great experiences in America. Couldn't really care what they are doing politically.
