Beech Aircraft Corporation stated that the first model would be available for sale sometime in mid-1960's.What an exciting new way to travel!</DIV>

Just three months prior to that announcement, on May 15, 1963, the company had accepted a military contract for a program called NU-8F; this program required them to test fly a version of its Queen Air airframe that was built with turboprop engines.
