Many of us in the U.S. know little about the Middle East or about the people that live there (IMO).

I doubt, if asked, we could explain the difference between Sunni and Shia Muslims, and most think the words “Arab” and “Muslim” are interchangeable.

Yet our public diplomacy program has made little progress on improving America's image.
