Eaglewings says: This is just another example of a man-made god. Taking the parts we like from all religious practices and mixing them together to form a hodgepodge of beliefs that Jesus warned against. Jesus declared unashamedly that he was the way the truth and the life not just one of many. Man loves to remake God into their own image, changing the absolute rightness of God for a rightness that suits each individual. The salad bar analogy works good here because the tendency of people is to take what they like and leave what they do not like. Most times it is the food that is best for us that we leave on the salad bar. First of all, there is some slight truth to the watering-down of doctrinal truth in the perceptions of Americans. There is no doubt about that. However, this dude in the clip is a Sociologist, which means he is probably a mutton-head and almost certainly a materialist. His comment is way over-generalized and, I am sure, intentionally so. I've only read the clip that you posted but I agree that the core doctrines of the Christian faith have either been completely set aside or distorted to where they bear little resemblance to orthodox Christianity. If anyone tries to revere Jesus Christ at all they pick & choose which words they want to accept and disregard those they don't. And they still want to claim that they are Christians. For many years, her work was admirable, but the platform she gives to so many questionable individuals spouting so much psychobabble, is obviously a reflection of her new role as an evangelist. Oprah (and consequently her followers) have adopted a world view that encourages the acceptance of "truth" on ones own terms according to ones' comfort quotient. When it comes to religion and politics (for that matter), you have to make a choice at some point. I often bemoan the fact that I'm not entirely in agreement with the candidates platforms, but in order to vote, I have to finally make a choice. With religion, r... Excellent comments guys and gals. Thanks for all your thoughtful responses. I got a great deal from each and everyone one of them. Thank you again for taking the time to leave a comment they are always appreciated. Eagle..I've added your site to my rss. It's timely, interesting and seems to be in the tradition of orthodox Christianity. I'm glad you clip here and blog there! :~) Eagle and Jatfla--now and again, it is a good thing for Christians to speak up because most spiritual dialog on the internet (aside from Christian-based websites), is overwhelmingly New Age. Thank you Jatfla it encourages me to know that at least one person is blessed by my ramblings floridapublisher I do my best to go into all the world to spread the good news, that includes the Internet.
