thisnamecantbetaken says: Half of Iraq's population are children. Children! Who can condone dropping bombs on babies and tormenting children, no matter how "noble" they may think the cause? Who can know of Iraq's suffering and still proudly wave the flag, droning off hollow words of security, democracy and freedom? How can anyone, anyone keep supporting this terrible murderous war? How?? How can anyone keep supporting this terrible murderous war? How??They have lost or sold their souls. It's that simple and that sad. And it is about money, and misguided faith. And, what about when (and if) these children grow up and hate the US for it? I am afraid we are creating a new generation who will hate the US even more than the last. Got news for ya. Children all over Africa have been dying from wars, disease and starvation for years. Don't see anyone here crying for them. Also, I have a picture of an extremely mal-nourished (starving) afghan child on my wall as a daily reminder. The picture has haunted me for about 5 years now. What's on your wall? Oh, so you don't see anyone crying for them?!? Well I will tell you what I have on my friggin' wall! Pictures of two small Ugandan kids named Kevin and Faith "adopted" through http://www.ugandachildcare.dk, who get to go to school, eat, get medicine and school books etc AND get to have some fun too because they are taken care of! PLUS I have rescued 1000's of animals from around the world and rehomed through different animal welfare organisations. I have been overseas 3 times just this year working for charity (volunteering = no pay!), so don't even BEGIN to throw that self-righteous shit at me! How many times have YOU gotten off your arse and DONE something for anybody else but yourself ins... Don't you DARE question my efforts and work for the less fortunate! It's all I friggin' do!! (Besides answering bullshit full-of-themselves questions from people like you!) Crikey, the nerve of some people...Nobody WAS questioning 'your' efforts, TN. My point that you so quickly flew off the handle about was this: Not all of us are in a position to do something half a world away today, when they are living day to day, paycheck to paycheck trying to make ends me... Not all of us are in a position to do something half a world away today, when they are living day to day, paycheck to paycheck trying to make ends meet.WRONG! I have been down and out several times but so what? Anyone and everyone can and should do their bit for people worse off than themselves. It's not about money, it's about time. Volunteer at the nearest retirement home and just sit and talk to the elderly, many of whom have no-one to come visit. Offer to wash a homeless person's clothes. Walk the elderly neighbours dog. Go shopping for a handicapped neighbour. It's not about having money, but about having a heart. No time and no money are poor excuses IMO. One way to h... So I guess don't mourn the Iraqis because other places are more deserving of attention? Also if you remember that the current suffering in Afghanistan has all the trappings of superpower manipulation, as in the Soviet Union and the U.S. and the U.S. had a chance to fix things but decided to spread the misery around and inject itself into Iraq. I think we who have compassion for all the suffering people, especially the children are very frustrated because there seems --at times--no end and no effective way to end this fuckin' war or the suffering. Just do what you can and keep communicating, try not to take out our frustrations on each other...but come Sept. 15 it will be time to hit the streets of DC and wherever like-minded, caring people take our outrage and lett the murdering bastards and their enablers in Congress that its time to defund this war and impeach Cheney/Bush. Start the proceedings at let the truth be known to everyone. i feel you all out there. Yesterday, while visiting my Dr., she told me that her assistant had l... So TRN ; you live pay check to pay check. Well send us your picture and we will all put it on our wall and cry for you. And if you are of the poor class. Why do you defend the Republican rich? They will help you about as much as they help those kids. But then you have a degree of confusion that is hard to comprehend. Like your rant against Clipmarks. http://clipmarks.com/clipper/The+REAL+Napster/ Thank you 'thisnamecan'tbetakne,' for reminding me (us) of the cornerstone idea: do what you can to make the world a better place. Direct pesonal action. It is difficult to influence government policies (or the policies of any institution). The majority of people don't support this war, BTW: People DO care. Polls in the USA, again today, indicate a majority want out of Iraq (53%) A poll today by the BBC indicated 66% of European don't support r USA Middle East actions. So perhaps there is an audience to consider: the Majority who do care, who feel like you. There are several hurdles, though. #1- Apparently the USA president can do whatever he wants. #2 - a political cliche, is th... Wow TN! Very impressed with your activities... Be the change you want to see in the world... And you are! I weep for all that are affected by this war on terror. I weep for the world! |
