Wow. This is extremely interesting, and I imagine that there will be lots of long talks about the ethics of it.

If it allows better care to be provided and for cognitively disabled people to have more enriching lives because of it, I might get behind this, but there's also a delicate balance between providing this as an option to those it would help and shoving it on anyone who is mentally handicapped to make them more manageable.

There's a wonderful book titled "Retarded isn't stupid, mom!" that is written by a mentally handicapped woman fighting for her independence and the right to live her life as an adult...

or maybe the carers could be given growth hormones to make them bigger and stronger? a good start might be with their brains

We may look back at this with disapproval later, but only because by then genetic testing will warn parents to the fact their child will be physically or mentally handicapped allowing the parent to take action.
