The story was created and spread by the same media now trying to blame it on the military.

No, I am saying that making someone a hero for moral or other advantageous reasons is nothing new, and there is nothing wrong with it during a time of war. Watch "Flags of our Fathers" for an example.

As for this specific case with Lynch, I don't know all the facts and wether the story was spread by the military or the news, I simply don't care, hence my shrug.

I thought Flags of our Fathers was an excellent film BD. But that film highlighted how the troops were used for war time purposes and what war meant to the average individual who had to actually fight it. I think Jessica had an excellent point in saying that the American people deserve the truth. We can handle the truth.

We can handle the truth.
Seems the media doesn't believe that.

Seems the generals don't believe that.

At least General Barry McCaffrey knows what is going on.
What’s your read of the case of Pat Tillman, the pro football player whose friendly-fire death in Afghanistan was first made to look like the result of enemy combat?
McCaffrey - There was sadly, a probably criminal cover-up of evidence. … They loved this guy. ... They shouldn’t have covered it up. That was wrong, but I’m empathetic to these guys. ….
You’ve got a unit horrified that they’ve killed their buddy and wanting to tell the family something noble.
I’ll bet you $100 to a half-eaten apple that (then Defense Secretary Donald) Rumsfeld knew about it right after Lt. Gen. Stan M...
