Ok, will some smart computer wizard explain, in plain English, what 'memory leak' is? I've used Firefox for about 4 yrs and haven't *noticed* anything strange, but I keep reading that it's a problem. So why is it? What is it doing? Should it be a concern for the user whose computer is their toy? :~) Memory leak is when a program continues to use an increasing amount of your computer's memory resources (RAM). Once you've exceeded your available physical RAM, your computer starts using your hard drive as additional RAM (called Virtual memory). Swapping information stored in RAM to your hard drive is very slow compared to the speed of RAM. If you have sufficient RAM on your computer and you're not running a lot of applications, a memory leak may not affect you. To determine how much available RAM you have and how much you're using, hit CTRL+ALT+DEL | Task Manager | Performance Tab. The bottom graph is how much memory your using. Under "Physical Memory (K)", "Total" is how much RAM yo... So it slows your computer down? Thank you for answering this and I know how to check this out. I just didn't know what the data I was seeing meant. :~) I know that firefox uses a lot of cpu ,is this addresed ,does n e one know .Also I heard its using coacoa |
