Its a religious thing about being clothed.
It's instilled in us at a very young age and mostly, if you were to notice only religious people are shy like that.

Nothing is better than being naked in the spring sunshine on a warm beach with a pleasant breeze. It brings one to a point of bonding with nature that can be found in no other manner. Maybe that's why the holy are against it.. it naturally elicits thoughts contrary to their dogma.

Its a religious thing about being clothed.

It's a religious 'Mental' thing about being clothed and you are not allowed to talk about it in your own house.
You are not even allowed to mention the word 'Nude,' either; especially if raised Catholic.

It's instilled in us at a very young age and mostly,
............very, very true after the age of 4 no longer allowed to run around the house without clothing that is a positive No, No.

Only Religious people in America; Europe are far less prudish, more open, more at ease with their bodies.

I'm telling you, as far as, I was concern I had no body, wasn't allowed to even acknowl...

How many Americans have you personally asked? Or is this just from perception? Because most of the folks I'm around have quite the opposite idea.

Asinine assumption draws asinine conclusion.

1st off...Catholicism does not speak for ALL of Christians and certainly not all of Americans.

2nd - you assume that modesty equals fear. That's just stupid. I choose not to openly display my body to the world, therefore I am afraid of nudity???? Whatever.

3rd - Are there really that many naked people walking around Europe? Funny, all the pictures show fully clothed people.

4th - The issue with the naked chocolate Christ was not an issue of nudity, but rather an issue of disrespect. People would have been just as offended had the chocolate Christ been draped.

How? There are plenty of art pieces (non-chocolate) of a nude Christ.

HistoryLink Essay: Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA) of Greater Seattle -- Part 3: Readjustment, 1930-1980:
An early casualty of gender equity was males-only nude swimming in the
downtown pool. Men and boys had been accustomed to swimming au naturel
at the YMCA, not only in Seattle but in Ys everywhere, since the 1890s.
The practice may have evolved from problems created by the long, wool
swimming suits then in fashion, which apparently shed so much they
gummed up the pool filters. Later, nude swimming was justified on the
grounds of hygiene. A handboo...
