RayWatkins says: The Right to Unionize: Key to Democracy By Dean Baker What amazes me is the number of workers who do not understand the value of a union to them. I will be the first to admit that not having a union is perhaps a better thing than having a poorly run union, but when there is a good union with progressive and honest leadership, it is a great thing for the worker who is in it. The same applies in Australia. I agree that it is amazing that workers don't stand up and demand that unions and their officials be sanctioned by law. Unions have gone through decline in the last ten years and the Labour Party, which was supposed to be pro union, is heavily influenced by the organ grinders. |
