Jaycer17 says: One of my favorite mammals. Just quietly, it's not a mammal, it's a monotreme. One of only 2 monotremes in the world, the other is the echidna. Precisely, a monotreme IS a mammal, the most primitive order of in the class Mammalia. They have fur, are warm-blooded and feed their young milk, like other mammals, but they are the only ones that lay eggs. Cool, awesome pics, and I just learned something. Thanks guys. I had a pet echidna when I was a lad. My father would collect ant nests for him, to see the tongue go in one side and out the other, about 130mm, then disappear inside the echidna covered in ants was amazing. Platypus are very hard to see in the wild, very shy. Don't try to pick up a male, they have poisonous spines on their hind legs. |
