In Icelandic, cucumbers are feminine, tomatoes are masculine, ketchup is feminine and tomato puree is either masculine or neuter. In German, cucumbers are also feminine, tomatoes are feminine, ketchup is either masculine or neuter, tomato puree is neuter while tomato sauce and tomato soup are feminine.

Of course this refers to grammatical gender, not any actual gender of the object or a reference to its shape - which is what the crazies appear to be going off about.
