Which new violence would that be? Wouldn't happen to be all those stories of horrific events that keep turning out to be false would it?

Where are all those smart-bombs, with little or no collateral damage?

20 headless bodies reported by Reuters and used in a story by Time was false.

There was also the story of 11 close family members of Jordanian-based Baathist reporter who were supposedly slaughtered in Baghdad. It was in all the major news, but not a single one ran the video or pictures of the family members when they showed up on Iraqi TV smiling and waving two days later.

Then there was the story of [url=http://www.philly.com/inquirer/world_us/20071202_Insurgents_kill_at_least_13__kidnap_dozens_in_Iraq_v...

Well I seen none of those stories. However I seen stories about renewed car bombings. And you say they are false, but you show no proof that they are in fact, false. If anything you simply are confirming news that things are still bad in Iraq, that the war goes on. Except for the family pic (I saw that one, thats at least some evidence there) you did not disproved a single one of the stories you alluded to, only stated that they where false.

And is this story also false:

Elsewhere an Iraqi was killed and five people were wounded Thursday
when a car bomb detonated near the Italian Embassy in northern
Baghdad's Adhamiya neighborhood, an Interior Ministry official said.
You know...

BBC reports in a story that Iraqi police deny earlier reports of 20 headless bodies being found. The spokesman for the MNF-Iraq also said there were no reports made about 20 headless bodies being found.

You say you saw the one about the family members.

"The story you are reading in the news is NOT true... CF assessment: Wildly inflated, irresponsibly exaggerated claims-no 600 families displaced, no 200 terrorists, no evidence of civilian KIA." MAJ Peggy Kageleiry Task Force Iron PAO.
And this from the AP "The U.S. military could not confirm Saturday'...

And I am not trying to deny there is still violence in Iraq. The violence never stopped. I am questioning this clip about increased violence that offers no evidence of increased violence and wondering if there might be a perception of increased violence due to an increase in false news reports of violence.

Two out of six, ok not bad. I'll hold my judgment on the email sent by the PAO, the Army has a lousy track record as well. Those where the links that you should have posted in the first place.

As for the NATO report, its not conclusive, so it seems that it may not be a "lie" as much as rush to report, a common sickness among all media outlets:

The incident remains under investigation but it is our belief that once
all the evidence is in, the conclusion will be a successful strike
against a known Taliban leader with no civilian casualties."

The media seems to be in quite a bit of a hurry to post these negative stories, and pretty much always seems to err on the side of making it look as bad as possible for our side.

And it seems there is another one that just happened. Over the weekend there were news reports of anywhere from 39-51 killed in Diyala in clashes between the villagers and al-Qaeda. After investigation it turned out that there were attacks on two villages, but only two were killed and three injured.

So the attacks where real and occurred in more locations.
