papananook says: If I hadn't been pardoned by Pres. Gerald Ford (bless the man) for my Fed. conviction of refusal to serve in the Military in protest of the Vietnam war in '70, I wouldn't be voting now. Some would probably say I don't deserve to vote because I'm a refusenik...but then those people are....well...wrong! Takes courage to stand up and be counted on an issue. History is littered with heroes who did just that. Churches love martyrs and preserve special places for those thus classified. I suppose being given back the right to vote would make one more conscious of its power and the need to be used correctly. Actually the right to vote would be a lot more precious if the system we lived in wasn't so blatantly manipulated by the corporate media jazzbos and their masters in the boardrooms of Big Oil, Pharm, Health who run this country. It seems the "democracy" is a cruel joke and so flawed that one wonders why our Representatives fail to hear us and do anything about a criminal Admin so corrupt it defies everyone and is never held accountable. Vote? yes. get satisfaction...NO! |
