This is a terribly, tricky time in happenings for the future of Iraq and Turkey. On PBS, the News Hour with Jim Lehrer, they showed a story on this conflict with the PKK. What amazed me most was their one sided view of the effects of the coming invasion of the North in Iraq. What about the economic effect on Turkey? The reporters only talked to the Iraqi merchants and people. What about the Turkish businesses and people? If the Turkish government stops commerce from Turkey to Iraq, wouldn't there be a very NEGATIVE effect on the Turkish businesses and people who have benefited from the improved economic relationship with Iraq? In another report, there was actually a fairly sound sugges... Well she is not promising much, since 0 x 2 = 0 I wouldn't take any of her promises seriously. I'm surprised. I would think the PKK would be small potatoes for Rice and Turkey. I'm not sure why they waste their time. Now if Greece were involved then action by Rice to mop up the mess would surely be needed. Not small potatoes for the Turks, the war with the PKK has cost them thousands of lives in the past three decades. Many inside Turkey are irate and want something done. Bad mojo! |
