This past week saw a resolution of <B>Dale Earnhardt Jr.</B>'s secondary drama -- the destination of the No. 8.</P> <P>If you've been on vacation, hadn't read SI.com, a newspaper or turned on a cable television channel, let us fill you in: Earnhardt won't be racing with his No. 8 Chevrolet Hendrick Motorsports next year after negotiations with his present team, Dale Earnhardt Inc. (DEI), fell through.</P> <P>NASCAR racing is very different from other types of professional team sports, which have franchises whose teams own their own numbers.
