The increasing of greenhouse gases over the arctic is the surest way of setting off the methane bomb, an intense warming cycle ignited by the methane emitted rotting melted tundra. We are talking extreme folly here.

Extreme folly indeed. This very cost inefficient and environmentally unsound tar sand extraction should not be developed at all, or at least not until a sane ecological method is found.

IMO our species is unfortunately very similar to the mule which must be hit over the head, just to get its attention. In other words , only a great health/ environmental disaster has the potential to bring about any lasting change. Although I hope I'm very wrong regarding this.
