Great video to watch on "Buy Nothing Day" aka "Black Friday".

We call it consumerism, but seriously do we really "consume" all the stuff we get. We hoard it and "warehouse" it after a couple of days of use. And then we go out and buy some more...

I've been realizing lately that it all comes with two hidden price tags that have to be paid later. The first is the cost of figuring out where to store it and how to keep it up. The second is the rather immense amount of trouble it takes to get rid of it - which either I will pay at some point, or I'll ignorantly foist the job off on my spouse or kids when I'm gone.
Maybe we should have a national "get rid of stuff" day.

Not only do you have to eventually get rid of unnecessary / unused / unwanted stuff, but you have to warehouse it, keep it warm in the winter; cool in the summer... often for many, many years. And, that costs too. Very expensive storage for what often, in the long run, is just junk for your executors to get rid of!
