wildcat says: The panellists for the discussion wer Dr. Seth Lloyd is a Professor of mechanical engineering at MIT. Dr. Christopher Fuchs is a Long Term Visitor with Perimeter Institute and is an adjunct Professor of Physics at the University of New Mexico. Sir Anthony Leggett is from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, I love reading all your clips Wildcat. I just wish I could comprehend them. I second that Deb Dear Deb, first of all the very fact that you like these clips proves that comprehension is not necessarily intellectual and maybe just maybe comprehension happens on many different levels, some of which you/we may not be aware of.. and then I was thinking that one of the best ideas CM has ever had (in my eyes of course) was the clipversity, which for unknown reasons has disappeared, how about we ask the clipdaddies to reinstate clipversity? and maybe an extended forum where issues can be discussed other than as comments? maybe just maybe comprehension happens on many different levels, some of which you/we may not be aware of..*debby crosses her fingers and says: "I hope so!" The extended forum is a most excellent idea Wildcat. Are you listening, clipfathers? I was thinking that one of the best ideas CM has ever had (in my eyesI totaly agree, it was great, I asked Eric once about it but never got an answer. Many scientific principles are based on theories, and speculation, that could be proven with an experiment that can be repeated. Some of the Scientific theories, particularly quantum, astrophysics, and cosmology, which seem clearly beyond our ability to prove them outright, according to reality as we see it today, but this may not always be the case. Many of the tests that have been used to prove aspects of the theory of relativity, were not developed until our understanding and associated technology caught up with the theory. The future is wide open and the only thing we can be sure of is that things will change, no doubt beyond an ability to comprehend today. Every time we make a new disco... 'Information' is an analogy based on our perceptions. The human mind and body are made of 'information' networks, or one network, and our perception of the reality fins a reflection of our conception. Energy exchange (a basic analogy of physics) is congruent with 'information' exchange. One problem, an old philosophical one, is that if all is information (analogously 'all is mind') then there is no external point to observe this and verify the claim (mind cannot look at mind). Still, i would defend against an army of 12.3 million armed squirrels, the claim that all is information. |
