Alaska bloggers have reported in recent weeks that “a long simmering embezzlement/IRS scandal is still being looked at by the feds.”

In her press conference today, Palin asked the public to “trust me with this decision and know that it is no more politics as usual.”

She’s right about one thing, stepping down is in the best interest of Alaska.

And the right wing is so ready to buy a cock-and-bull story about her preparing to make a run for president in 2012... 40 months ahead of time?

What dupes! I knew there was a scandal behind her resignation. We just have to wait and see if this is the actual scandal, or if it's something else. Palin didn't quit as governor when she was a joke of a VP candidate, so she certainly isn't quitting now to prepare for a run at President (like she would actually stand a chance of even making it to the Primary)
