Or, why people are more interested in celebrity scandals and silly video clips than things that actually affect their lives. I highly recommend you continue researching the concept of memetics...and consider also how it can apply to vote-based sites such as this one (and Digg, and Reddit, and...)

The way it seems easier to believe some thing because there is believed to be 'good company'. There is all of the stress behind genetic principles, and evolution, but as we go we are finding there are more and more factors associated. Culture is an evolutionary mechanism of combined cortical intelligence, a sort of buffer zone for optimal environmental species adaptation.
