Just asking...to some extent don't they do that already? Those who pay premiums to insurance companies who provide money paid to doctors who, in turn, treat uninsured patients (I'm thinking primarily of the ERs)?

I know personally of 2 dentists who provide free services for those who are unable to pay...because others have paid them enough to allow them this privilege/luxury.

What about their humanitarian aid? Their giving to charities? Their tax deductible donations to hospitals, grants to medical institutions? Not really what the article might be addressing; but I think a lot is done. Could more? Yes. But when the rich are made poor, then what?

Updated, July 20, 7 p.m. | House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said today that she would like to scale back a proposed income surtax on the highest wage-earners so that it applies only to individuals earning more than $500,000 and couples earning more than $1 million
Of course she, and all of congress would be exempt from this...right?
