In tests of the sterile browsing system during brain surgery, the researchers say the system did what it was asked to do 96 per cent of the time.
Eff that. Poke around on someone's brain and get it right 96% of the time? Let's wait for them to get it right 100% of the time.

... Not even computers that are used in hospitals today nescesarrily work 100% of the time... There's always a factor of error in any technology we use. And I would say that the advantage of not getting staff infections from insterile enviroments in the hospital far outweigh the risk of an image not scrolling correctly the first time.

The computers work; the scientists running them are the problem.

Scientists??!! I'm speechless, do you even bother reading the article? These are surgeons, not scientists. They use these computers to browse through radiology images, which means that it doesn't need to work perfectly every time. And computers do have a factor of error, all computers have a factor of error. And again, a small percentage of error is certainly more favorable then staff infection! ESPECIALLY if they're working on your brain!

Not to mention this was just a test! That being the case, I imagine they probably had a back up if something did go around! Jeesh.
