As a child I was always fascinated by the big machine the cobbler ran at the back of the shop with all the spinning wheels on it. There was also that distinct smell in the shop. It seemed he could fix so many different things beside shoes, too. Purses, belts, luggage, a leather jacket, and who knew what else. There used to be a cobbler training program at the local tech school, but I dont know if it survived. I wouldn't know where to find a cobbler today.
