In my understanding, sahara, you are totally correct. I can't help but think that with this issue, along with so many other things, it isn't the fact that people don't have an interest in them that doesn't allow an uproar, it's that they don't have the understanding of what it means and how it relates to them even though they aren't involved in the activity directly at this moment.
