AtlLiberal says: Why is belief based on a 19th century snake-oil huckster any more ridiculous than other religious myths? Why is belief based on a 19th century snake-oil huckster any more ridiculous than other religious myths?Longevity and saturation of meme give it a far greater survivability in the host. This allows it to be a greater infection mechanism for self replication. One interesting thing about the survivability of memes is that, like genes, they are prone to improvement via evolution, both natural selection and random mutation. There are supposedly 20,000 mutations (denominations) of the Christian meme, alone! The stronger ones get stronger, and weaker ones become marginalized as cults. Good comment, AL. To stretch the analogy to the breaking point I could say that I'm directing my atheistic gamma ray at the religion meme in hopes of mutating it out of existence. Not the best analogy but it's late here. Radiation poisoning? I was going more for a genetic mutation. |
