If someone makes a claim that is false, they receive little support, with others trying to find evidence to discount the claim.
What seems most bizarre, is the implication that the Administration seems to make that investigations, and calls for investigations, and people who have called for investigations, are a threat to national security.
Secrets are a threat to national security, because when people know there are secrets which concern the way they live their lives,not knowing the nature of those secrets apart from their designations for security reasons, they have reason to be afraid. Fear can do strange things to a population, it is very unpredictable. The unity of nationalism, in the way love can turn to hate, can turn the population into a mob that is prepared to do what it can by whatever means to reveal the secrets, knowing it will have to be done before the can ever sleep soundly again
