It's so sad and what even makes it worse is that they don't seem to have a clue. To top it off, their narsissism makes it almost impossible for someone to communicate even their concern to them. Being a "boomer" I have always wished my children and grandkids had as much as I had, not more. I didn't have cable TV, but I loved to read. I didn't have electronic games and other devises, but I had good friends, playgrounds, and a great imagination. I occasionally feel sorry for the very affluent. Their world seems so flat, stale, and empty sometimes. I read a really good article on the myth of the low self-esteemed child. The vast majority of kids have too high of a sense of self-worth, not a lack of it. My husband's nephew is "severely depressed". His parents spoil him rotten and he lives the good life. Hard to imagine what you have to be sad about when you have lots of cash, don't have to work and get to have the nicest things and your biggest worry is getting good enough grades to keep the good times rolling. And maybe that is it. When you do not have to earn what you are given, you have no sense of value either. Yet one more advantage to being raised dirt poor...lol — Comment removed by clipper — |
