A fascinating resource on English and its dialects.

Why, in such a small space as the England, with a much smaller population than the US, is the language so much more diverse? It isn't as though they don't have media exposure like the US does.

BB, while certain dialects may be waning, there is evidence that dialect differences in the US have actually been increasing. See the US collection of English dialects for example, or this NPR show on the subject. Also, see my clip on American accents.
