ericskiff says: I'm a huge wordpress fanboy. It's simple, elegant, and I can extend it to make it do whatever I need. I'm dying to see what bbPress can do! I'll be installing it soon, that's for sure. Pop for the WP guys! A pop for sure.....but, call me crazy, I like to think that Clipmarks can rule the listserv, the boards, the emails and everything related to virtual community building. call me crazy, I like to think that Clipmarks can rule the listserv,Arifsali, I'm really starting to agree. We've talked a lot about how to build community, and many of my normal ideas (such as forums, blogs, etc) are really already taken care of by clipmarks itself! I'm really looking forward to showing off clipmarks to some of the communities I'm part of and bringing them over this way to clip stuff they're interested in and talk about it here. There's potential to have a community for every tag, and tags for every community. Clipmarks does make the entire old-school "look at this link" style blog obsolete. I mean, you get a bigger built-in audience than for any start-up blog, and only people who like to bloviate suffer from the word-count restrictions here. I sometimes think of the evolution of communication tools like the game Spore, where lower lifeforms can coexist with higher ones. That's not to denigrate them in any way — clearly many humans love their pets. bbPress still looks very early and I don't see a lot in the way of community moderation features yet, but... if it grows like WordPress, it could be a big smash success! I don't like many existing forum softwares, they're too samey and feel bulky, with slow page reload times. |
