I'd like to see them all removed from govt health care, out on their own, searching for a policy they can't understand, and having to deal with what those of us who can get healthcare insurance deal with. I used to be a hospital administrator. We played legally mandated "games" on our billing to get blue cross, medicare, and other insurers to pay for the uninsured services. I don't want govt subsidized healthcare, but I do want govt. to set standards. I do want govt to reward healthy lifestyles in the same way they reward "keeping jobs at home". Should we abolish medicare and medicaid if you don't want any govt programs? I hear lots of complaints but no real solutions. Obama is not advocating govt subsidized healthcare-that already exists. As in the estimated 20-30 million illegals are included in that number. So you are saying that people who broke the law to come here should have American taxpayers pay for their health care? Of course we know we already are anyway.

And we sure as God Made Little Green Apples know that giving health care responsibilities to the government means tons more inefficiency and waste and overhead. How many doctors are refusing medicare and medicaid patients because they don't get reimbursed enough to even cover expenses? Or aren't paid at all.

But we do have a couple of ideas:
1. Drop all the Cadillac health care requirements. I mean this stupid bailout bill includes a requirement that all health insurance has to now cover MENTAL health the same as every other disease so do you think that will lower the cost of insurance? No special requirements for insurance in one state or another either.
2. Allow any appropriately bonded company to sell insurance in any state. And no anti-trust horsehockey about them creating their own provider networks to control quality and cost.
3. Get the freaking lawyers out of the system. Complete and total freedom from liability and pain and suffering for doctors - matched by a 100% outcome reporting system. All providers have to report all patients and their outcomes in public with names attached to it. Won't take long for the truth to get out.
4. And the investigation of providers is to be done - by their competitors. For obvious reasons
5. Drop the tax exemption for health insurance and the requirement that any company has to provide it too.
6. Then if you get sick you are responsible for your costs. Buy insurance if you want - self-insure i

However, I don't believe that by keeping them from having insurance, hospitals and doctors refuse to see them. But should they? Refuse all health care for undocumented adults and their children? Turn them away? Change the doctors oath? Because what happens is they follow their oath and pass the cost through to you and me and all the insured.

I like the idea of some sort of catasrophic health covereage offering instead of this cadillac coverage currently offered. That's a great start right there. I also like number 3 but with questions. How do you enforce disclosure and prevent cheating? ...

And you want drs to open their med records to the competition for some sort of peer review? Just wanting to clarify.

I like number 5 if when they drop health insurance, they raise pay to level the beginning playing field. Wages have been held down because of rising premiums.
