A preview of our coming healthcare future? Of course. Why in the world have your kids on your company's health care when its "free" through the government. And you will be paying for it whether your kids are in it or not.

Any rational being would drop their private health insurance like a shot.

Government subsidized "health care" would be a train wreck for patients and it would be even worse for the
medical providers.

The government created subprime mortgages that got us in this mess. I'm sure they'd create subprime health care, too.

I don't think the congress feels like their health care is subprime. I'd like to see them all removed from govt health care, out on their own, searching for a policy they can't understand, and having to deal with what those of us who can get healthcare insurance deal with. Do you all like McCain's plan? Just curious. I haven't seen anything that solves the issue of the insured (me) subsidizing the uninsured who use services which increase our premiums in order for the hospitals/doctors to profit anyway. I wonder how much my premium would be reduced if I could buy into a pool of people who work out regularly, don't smoke, and I didn't have to subsidize anyone (a huge and hidden tax,...

Our overlords and masters in Congress do not make laws which apply to THEM! Go look at every major law passed in the past 50 years and you will find clauses which indicate that the laws and regulations specifically DO NOT apply to Congress.

But they are going to tell you how to live your life, how to spend your money and how much of your hard work will go to others who don't work, won't work, or just deserve it more than you

I used to be a hospital administrator. We played legally mandated "games" on our billing to get blue cross, medicare, and other insurers to pay for the uninsured services. I don't want govt subsidized healthcare, but I do want govt. to set standards. I do want govt to reward healthy lifestyles in the same way they reward "keeping jobs at home". Should we abolish medicare and medicaid if you don't want any govt programs? I hear lots of complaints but no real solutions. Obama is not advocating govt subsidized healthcare-that already exists. If it's not subsized directly by govt it is subsidized by the insured. He is advocating access to health insurance for everyone. How do we do that f...

bummer no one here wants to talk about fixing the health insurance crisis, only to conclude that any democratic policy makes it worse. Anyone? Solultions to stop the hidden tax we pay in our insurance premium by having 47 million uninsured? Do you guys think McCain is on the right track?

I love it how that uninsured number just keeps getting bigger and bigger with nothing to back it up. Well, there is something I saw recently that identified a lot of it. As in the estimated 20-30 million illegals are included in that number. So you are saying that people who broke the law to come here should have American taxpayers pay for their health care? Of course we know we already are anyway.

And then at least half of the legal Americans who aren't in the system are the young and healthy who don't need it.

And we sure as God Made Little Green Apples know that giving health care responsibilities to the government means tons more inefficiency and waste and overhead. How many docto...

thank you very much colorado right. I don't believe illegal immigrants should be covered, no. However, I don't believe that by keeping them from having insurance, hospitals and doctors refuse to see them. But should they? Refuse all health care for undocumented adults and their children? Turn them away? Change the doctors oath? Because what happens is they follow their oath and pass the cost through to you and me and all the insured.

I like the idea of some sort of catasrophic health covereage offering instead of this cadillac coverage currently offered. That's a great start right there. I also like number 3 but with questions. How do you enforce disclosure and prevent cheating? ...
