Antara says: yes, this truly deserves recognition....... and I can tyoipe on a c o m p th er har de har! Poor kid, he will be teased mercilessly about this. Jeez, I demand my AWARD, too. I was catching the bus at 12. Well I do all that! Don't I get one too!!! Catching the bus? Hell. I remember riding the streetcar when I was about six. Alone. God...what can I say on this???? These awards are designed for young people with mental handicaps, for whom such an achievement can be real and life changing. oh, sorry John I did not realise that, please forgive my stupid comment! please forgive my stupid commentof course, Silvana. This award is probably a part of the ASDAN scheme for young people with learning difficulties. There are many such skills for which they can gain recognition and in my career as a teacher of children with special needs I have helped many to achieve them. For the kids and their families they can be the source of a real sense of pride and achievment. The only story here is really that the organisers of this holiday sceme have awarded it to this particular boy in error or inappropriately. And yes tidbit, they can also recieve an award for typing on a computer - ain't that hilarious! |
