You had better do a little research before you wish for something that you don't seem to know to much about. Number one: Medicare is not free. The premium is deducted from our social security check before we get it. Number two: It does not even come close to covering medical expenses. Everyone has to get a supplemental policy to cover what medicare doesn't cover. This is a private policy that we have to pay for out off our own pocket. And it is not cheap. When you add up the two premiums it is very close to a private insurance policy. Think about what you are wishing for, you may get it. There is no choice in the coverage. Take it or leave it.

Universal healthcare isn't free either, but it's far cheaper to pay that in taxes and make sure you actually get treated than through insurance companies who regularly deny claims, thus denying you medical attention.

What makes you think Medicare doesn't deny coverage?

You should talk to my Mom Jerry. Almost all of her chemo is being paid for by Medicare and she's happy she has it.

Just remember, you get what you pay for.

Again, Medicare is a system that works; just ask the people who have had cancer or a stroke or a heart attack if they appreciate having Medicare.

Medicare isn't free. And in the long run, if you plan ahead, you can get better insurance at a better price than what you get with medicare.

BTW, the new health care proposals also include cuts to medicare.
