She hopes it isn't! It happened in Germany too. ; ) People should take into account that by our standards European conservatives would not be conservatives at all. At best they would be moderates. American liberals aren't nearly as liberal as European liberals. The new French Prime Minister disagrees with the Bush Administration on Global Warming for one quick difference. BR, There is at least one major difference between the new French president and US Democrats: The French president actually appears to like America. I think this whole anti-French pablum put out by the rightwing is ridiculous. That is why I responded to BrazilNut's post about Fred Thompson poking the French in the eye that what we really need are statesmen. Someone who can diffuse the tension and find common ground. The French were more than happy to commit 15,000 troops, armored divisions, and jet fighters to Desert Storm. The Republican party doesn't work very well unless they can find someone to demonize and use "Us against them" tactics. The Republican party doesn't work very well unless they can find someone to demonize and use "Us against them" tactics. And the Democrats do? Where would they be without fomenting class warfare and racial strife? The Republicans have been waging war against the middle class and the poor for decades through tax cuts that overwhelmingly favor the rich. Due to the Republican class warfare against the middle class and the poor, 20% of our population controls 84% of the wealth of the nation. Racial strife? The Republicans should stop embracing the confederacy and neo-confederate hate groups and rejoin the Union. Amazing that no matter what the topic, Bobby is there to derail the thread into bashing Bush and the republican party. Actually this thread got derailed when BrazilNut stated that the Democratic Party hates America, be accurate sooners. And by the way your one to talk, your presence here (clipmarks) is nothing but a bash party on the Democratic Party. So now that we are off topic. How about those Boise St. Broncos! Man you got admire the underdog whippin up on the over confident cocky favorites who just want to rest on their laurels. I can't wait for football season to begin to see highlights from that game played over and over ever week. Boise St. over ou will be Sportscenter material every weekend. The Republicans have been waging war against the middle class and theSounds like left wing whiner "pablum" to me B-rut! On-topic...Shrillary is delusional if she thinks there is "no parallel". How about those Boise St. Broncos! Man you got admire the underdogAnd that my friends is the true character of Bobby Rutan. For those who have no clue what his rant is about, it is a cheap shot at n2sooners' football team (Oklahoma Sooners) upset loss to Boise State in this past year's Fiesta Bowl. You're the loser, B-Rut whenever you post that same tired line in an attempt to flame n2sooners! Tit-for-tat Sparling. sooners post had no purpose but to slight someone. I mentioned earlier, and it is a valid assessment, of the differences of politics in other countries. What is labeled as conservative somewhere else does not equal the conservatism in the US. European conservatism is much closer to moderate US politics. There will be many differences and should not be taken as a total stamp of approval for the policies of George Bush. Would anyone like to comment on the shift to the left taking place across Central and South America. So in one post you claim that European conservatives are hardly American conservatives (valid point), but in the next you glorify in a leftist revolution to our south. See any contradiction? Have you taken a close look at policies in those nations after the "left" party won the election. With the exception of a few states like Venezeula and Bolivia, the "left" parties are enacting much of the same policies advocated by the "right" parties. Chile, Brazil and Argentina are championing free trade and have fairly "conservative" economic policies. One of the unique characteristics of South America is cronyism. It corrupts most ruling parties and changes between "left" and "right" parties is... Thank you for pointing out that it is folly to point to another countries politics and say that is a reflection of US politics. That is all I was asking for. I sort of wonder how asking others to reflect on Central and South America glorified anything. |
