I think you might be onto something Bookchick, although I think it might just be more about a presence in Lebanon which limits the power of Hez and the Syrian/Iran governments.

I don't know why but it just seemed to hit me spot on when I posted my comment after reading the article. It just makes sense because Hezbollah has been a thorn and it's not a secret that the Bush's (and others) want 'em out.
