I have stayed away from clipmarks from a while, in order to facilitate a more balanced life. I stopped visiting for awhile when I noticed some folks were taking my own opinions to be critiques of them almost personally. This scared me. It said to me that they and I were spending too much time here.

Need some real world connection ... when we care more about our invisible friends than the person next door or next to you in the bookstore, it is time to check reality.

We don't know each other on clipmarks we only know a portion of the person behind the keyboard. We know what they clip, not who they are.

Well,
Yes and no baby. But I know what you mean. I've had tons of online friends and I think social networking is important for some people. I get out and have one to one time with ppl also, but there are some people who can't do that as much for physical or mental health reasons and I think social networking is good for them. One of the reasons I like CM is because of the adult political comments. The main reason I started on CM was because I had no outlet for my political opinions in my red state back in GW's first term in office. Even then, even before 911, I saw the dangers in his administration. Contrary to now, I wasn't very popular among my peer group in this area and we here ...

People do need real physical contact. You can get caught up in the internet. And if you feel that is becoming a problem, it's best to address that. Thanks for the clip and thanks for pointing out how you felt and what you did to balance your life out. I feel as though this clip is a very important one NonStat.

I've yet to ban a single person from commenting on my clips. And despite striving to always maintain civil discussions (albeit with occasional saracasm) without personal attacks, which I believe I've achieved, I've been banned anyways.

This is absolutely true here.

I admire this about you, Debby, you clip what you want to clip, and you say what you want to say. I admire your honesty and your bravery. I on the other hand am a rank coward. I think twice before I clip something in order not to cross swords with anyone. God, life is so short and some of us suffer so much that to get onto the internet to listen to the shouts and the insults and abuse hurled by total strangers is an exercise in masochism. So, I've given up, and there are some clippers and topics I avoid like the plague because the ensuing invective is so predictable. But this also means that I am limited in what I am prepared to clip. But that's life I suppose - on every block there has to be a bully ready so spoil the fun.

Be careful who you admire Michellezm; I'm certainly not worthy of it. I save my admiration for those who have the guts to come out albeit the consequences. Those are my hero's. Remember I told you on one clip that God had spared you from a strangers attack for a reason? Sometimes the reasons are not clear, but there is always a reason sweet girl. I admire people who are able to face their fears, fears none of us can know who do not experience them. I admire those who have a voice for humanity. I admire those who stand out for justice and peace; not those who abide by charity. I admire those who have strength that is not easily seen by others who are not willing to look for it. While ...

Debbyski--it is great to see that clipmarks helped you. There is a part of me that cringes when I hear people say they think they know an online person, as I have experienced that as soon as you put your real photo up, some people bolt because you have now ruined their "ideal" of who they thought you were. This depresses me.

Anyway, I digress... I think it is fantastic that you have found clipmarks to be a marvelous outlet for your coming out process. I also think it is fantastic that you took this coming out into your tangible day to day life and help other people understand your life is as normal as theirs. That takes tremendous guts.

Sometimes I just use clipmarks to vent or mumble to ...

You know what baby? Those ppl aren't worth knowing. While it is true that we are probably hard wired to be attracted to the physically beautiful, there are some who are really able to see inner beauty in a way that defies reason. Those ppl do exist NonStat. They are the ppl I have passed by so many times in my life to take up with the "attractive" guy or gal. But time, my friend, is the great equalizer. B...

It is something of a common understanding that the act of writing is a way of clearing and clarifying one's thoughts and positions. When one writes in a journal it is private and really meant as a reflection, or when on a blog it is, hopefully, more thought out, concise, and accurate as to the intent of the writer's expression. In a forum such as this, with these particular mechanics at play as to the functions we work with, it's kind of a combination of the two, sort of like opening the door to one's brain to let everyone else see the wheels and gears turning, meshing, or gnashing; much more short form shots from the hip than other forums I been in. I think that's what makes it entertaining.

Not me... Ijust like to argue with Wilhelm and Colorado Right....JUST KIDDING, REALLY!...I love the way you are so open Debbyski and I learn from you and others like Abailart, masbury, Thisnamecan't ne taken and I won't list you all, but I definitely have learned a lot here..not just from the interesting clips but mostly about the shared humanity we seem to have at CM, believe it's special for me, bein' a rathe asocial hermit/monk in Alaska...I don't get out a lot in the 40 below weather in Fairbanks, so I really appreciate all of you people, Including Wiilie and CR...I have learned that my narrow rants are not always truth...but I'm assimilating some wisdom, I hope. Thanks all. I may be off...

I know exactly what you mean. I don't know if this will help at all, but I have an anti-troll song (my invisible anti-troll force shield. *LOL*) that I listen too when needed. I like to turn up the volume really loud and in two seconds, baddaboom, I feel fine! Haha! 99% of the views on this clip are probably me! I hope you can use it and it's as therapeutic to you, as it is to me. .

speaking of online friends... does anyone know if Rashid Malik has reappeared? He really made me laugh. His uncanny ability to find the cutest clips often made my day.

Thank you all for sharing your thoughts!

Yes it would be good to let this be a multicultural site free from self-censorship as I have had my comments removed. We should be able to post left and right sides of arguments depending on issue.Similarly with different view points in sciences , climate change etc we are all richer from practicing Voltaire's idea, "about not necessarily agreeing with but defending with his life the right of his opposition to say that" Love has NO colour,OK
