egoldstein says: Wow. Sometimes in life things have a crazy way of playing themselves out. After all this craziness, Arod will now be a hero to yankee fans. I can tell you this much...i totally ripped on him when he opted out...now i'm saying "welcome back!!" When I saw this on Sportscenter, I thought, "I wonder what EG thinks about this." Now I know. I guess they won't be winning the World Series next year either. The Yankees and Arod need each other . With the demise of Bonds, A-Rod is one of the few players who can overshadow the damage done to the game with his own legit numbers. He kinda has the same effect as what Babe Ruth did after the Black Sox scandal (minus the charisma). Having said that, I still think Arod will have to sustain some more boos from Yankee fans at first. There is a sense that team loyalty is broken, but nothing a few weeks of solid numbers can not negate. Cashman has taken lots of hits lately...how about now? Arod opts out. Now he has to find a power hitting right handed 3rd baseman to replace 50 and 150 without giving up to much to get Miguel Cabrera (read: Melky plus one of the following young studs:Hughes, Chamberlain, or Kennedy). Result? Arod back, Posada back (4 yrs) Mariano back (almost, but it will happen) AND for the icing on the cake...steal Mike Lowell from the Sox to play first base (Giambi done after next year) for the next 3yrs...could happen! Are you kidding me?!!! GREAT JOB CASH!!! |
