I believe McCain is really a Democrat but knows he has no chance at all in that race.

I would vote for him if he picks a real conservative for VP and only stays for one term. I figure one term of McCain is not quite as bad as one term with one of the socialist candidates and it could be useful in positioning a real conservative for 2012. Of course that isn't likely to happen, but one can hope.

I don't think its possible he would pick a conservative VP because he wants to be friendly with the liberals. My problem with him is that he has stated he will raise taxes
and he supports open borders. The bill he has named for him, the McCain-Feindgold debacle. If he gets the nomination the Dems "Hillary" will have a cakewalk.
